Xiong Xiao is a senior research scientist in Temasek laboratories, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore. His research interest is automatic speech recognition and speech processing.
He received B. Eng. (Computer engineering) and PhD degrees in 2004 and 2010, respectively, both from School of Computer Engineering, NTU. During his PhD, he studied noise robustness issues in ASR under the supervision of Dr. Eng Siong Chng (NTU) and Dr. Haizhou Li (Institute of Infocomm Research) .

Experience
  • Feb 2011-now: Research scientist in Temasek laboratories @ NTU, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
  • Oct 2010-Dec 2010: Visiting scholar in Universite Joseph Fourier, France. I worked with Dr. Sethserey Sam and Prof. Laurent Besacier on applying speech modulation features on non-native speech detection problem.
  • Feb 2010-Jan 2011: Research fellow in School of Computer Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
  • Feb 2009-Jan 2010: Project officer in School of Computer Engineering, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
  • Mar 2008-Aug 2008: Visiting student in Georgia Institute of Technology (GeorgiaTech), USA. During my stay in GeorgiaTech, I worked with Dr. Jinyu Li and Prof. Chin-Hui Lee on applying soft-margin discriminative training method to mismatched speech recognition tasks.
